    A date on the darkest day

    The game is a point and click with 3 different endings.

    Valery (she/her) is a trans vampiress, she is taking advantage of the solar eclipse to move through the town and arrive at her date with Felix (he/him).

    To reach him, she must go to the lighthouse without being noticed before he leaves or the eclipse is over.

    This game is currently in development, and therefore, this prototype version and some future updates will be free-to-play! 

    There might be bugs in the current version, and we’re actively working on fixing them. If you spot a bug, let us know, and we’ll address it as soon as we can!

    El juego es un point and click con 3 posibles finales.

    Valery (she/ her) es una vampiresa trans que aprovechará el eclipse solar para escabullirse a través del pueblo para ir a su cita con Felix (he / him).

    Para encontrarse con él deberá llegar al faro sin ser descubierta antes de él se vaya o que termine el eclipse.

    El juego esta actualmente en desarrollo, por ello este prototipo y algunas versiones futuras serán gratis!

    Pueden llegar a encontrar errores en el juego, estamos activamente trabajando en el. Si cnuentran un problema pueden dejarnos un comentario y trataremos de resolverlo en cuanto podamos.

    This page changed a lot, because I wanted to show Max‘s tension when meeting with Trevor and his fear of Trevor‘s intensions.

    When I started to skech it I wasn‘t sure how the vignetes were goint to be distributed, but in the end I decide that I wanted to give more space to the last vignete because this shot opens the question “Where is Trevor taking Max?”, that is why this vignete takes most of the page.

    Esta pagina la cambie mucho, porque quería mostrar la tensión de Max al encontrarse con Trevor, y su miedo a las intenciones de Trevor.

    Al principio no tenia decidido la distribución de las viñetas pero me decidí a darle mas importancia a la ultima, porque sentí que en ese plano se abre el misterio de ¿A donde quiere que lo siga? Y por eso este plano es el que mas espacio ocupa en la hoja.

    This page is the continuation of the conflict that appears in the previous page and the first appearance of Trevor.

    I had a lot of fun thinking how can I add him slowly in each vignete, I decided to show him spying in the background very far and in each vignete show him a little closer with the final vignete revealing his face.

    Esta pagina cuando la dibuje, la pensé como una continuación del conflicto que mostraba en la pagina anterior, a su vez quería presentar a Trevor.

    Me divertí mucho pensando como podía introducirlo poco a poco y me convenció la idea de que el estuviera espiando de lejos a Max y poco a poco se acercara a el hasta que el ultimo plano revelara su rostro.

    For this page I wanted to show Max’s conflict. I wanted to use the first part of the page to show his transformation, and in the second part his fear to be discovered.

    Since I started with the sketches I decided what kind of shot I wanted to use and I changed almost nothing between the first and the last version of the drawing.

    Para esta pagina tenia en claro que quería mostrar el conflicto de Max. Quería usar la primera parte para mostrar su transformación y en la segunda parte quería mostrar su miedo a ser descubierto.

    Desde los primeros bocetos ya había decidido que tipo de tamaño de encuadre quería usar y hubo pocas variaciones en el dibujo final.

    For this page I had to go back and forward, because I have problems with the last vignette. I drew it from different angles but non of them convinced me.

    When I move on to the digital sketches ,I searched for pose references in unsplash, posed mannequins in posemy and when I couldn`t find a pose I took pictures of myself to use as reference.

    Para realizar esta pagina tuve muchas idas y vueltas porque no estaba muy convencida con la ultima viñeta. La dibuje desde varios angulos y ninguna me convencia del todo.

    Cuando pase a hacer el boceto en digital busque referencias de poses en https://unsplash.com/ , alguna de las poses las realice en https://posemy.art/ y las poses que no consegui referencias me tome fotos a mi mismo.

    My first idea was that in the cover appear Max and Trevor hugging and holding a frisbee near their lips, implying that they are kissing behind the frisbee.

    In the second version the pose was wasn`t good and I preferred that Max caress Trevor`s face and erase the frisbee.

    In the digital version I fixed the proportions of the characters and made the circle of the moon in the background.

    The final version was made in watercolor, acrylic markers and polychromes. I streamed the process and you can see it here: youtu.be/jUQaN-Om7rE

    Mi primer idea fue que en la portada aparezcan Max y Trevor abrazados con un frisbee tapandoles la boca insinuando un beso detras de el.

    En la segunda version todavia tenia intenciones de incorporar el frisbee, pero note que el frisbee quedaba raro y que seria mejor que Max acariciara a Trevor en vez de tener el frisbee en las manos

    En la version del boceto a digital acomode las proporciones de la anatomia de los personajes e hice el circulo de la luna detras de ellos.

  • See you under the full moon: chapter 1 – lettering

    The reason I did’t upload the final version of the comic yet is that I’m struggling with the lettering.

    I decided to use Clip Studio Paint to edit the comic and make the lettering, but sincerely I never use this program before and is very complex to understand how it works with my current skillset.

    The challenges I had were:

    Create the frames of the comic with black margins

    I fixed this problem using black squares and lines to cover the page and create the frames. In the future I should find how to do it with the manga tools of the program, so I can use it in the reedition of the chapter 1 and the edition of the chapter 2.

    Create the curved tails in the speech bubbles

    I found some youtube tutorials that explain how to edit the speech bubles, so I follow them to make the bubbles.

    Make Onomatopoeias

    I did not start to do this yet, but I found a tutorial that explains how to do it and it recomended that I make a library in another file to reuse them.

    Add dinamic lines and fix details in the drawing

    That is the most difficult part of the process because I dont know how to use the program and all the tools overwell me. I think that I am going to learn slowly how to do it but I dont want to hurry up and burn out so this is going to take as long as it takes. I dont wanna lose the enthusiasm, I want to enjoy making this comic.

    My plan is continue with the sketches of the chapter 2 while I learn to use the program and finish chapter 1 slowly. Probably chapter 1 and 2 will be finished at the same time.

    La razon por la que no subi el capitulo 1 en ningun lado todavia es porque estoy luchando con el lettering.

    Decidi usar Clip Studio Paint para hacer la edicion del comic y el lettering, pero sinceramente nunca use ese programa y es muy complejo para mis habilidades actuales.

    Mis desafios con el programa hasta ahora fueron:

    Crear las viñetas con el fondo del comic en negro.

    Este problema no lo solucione aun si no que cree lineas gruesas y rectangulos que tapen las partes que quiero que queden en negro. Espero poder solucionar esto de una forma mas practica para el capitulo 2, y aplicarlo a la segunda edicion del capitulo 1.

    Crear los globos de los dialogos con las puntas curvas.

    Para esto tuve la suerte de encontrar dos videos en youtube que me ayudaron a hacer los globos de dialogo como queria. Dejo aca los links para recordarlo.

    Hacer las onomatopeyas

    Todavia no empece con esta tarea pero encontre un video que talves me sea muy util. Mi idea es hacer un archivo aparte con todas las onomatopeyas a modo de biblioteca y de esa forma las puedo reutilizar en todo el comic.

    Agregar lineas de movimiento y corregir detalles del dibujo.

    Esta es la tarea mas dificil de todo el proceso, porque como no se usar el programa y se ve tan complejo, solo pensar en hacerlo me abruma. Supongo que poco a poco me ire adaptando al programa y me ira saliendo mas natural. Mientras tanto me tomare el tiempo que me lleve, sin presionarme mucho, asi puedo seguir disfrutando de hacer el comic.

    Mi plan actual es avanzar con el boceto digital del capitulo 2 mientras aprendo a usar el programa y terminar el capitulo 1 poco a poco. Probablemente el capitulo 1 al mismo tiempo que el capitulo 2.

    The making of this back cover was chaotic. When I finished drawing all the comic and started to edit the comic to add the dialogs in english and spanish, I noticed that I did not do the back cover at all, I didn’t even had a sketch.

    Because there were only a few days left before the jam I wanted to participate in ends, I decided that I would do a forest background, inspired by the forest in page number 7, and use the frisbee that I didn’t use on the cover to make a lunar cycle.

    Because I didn’t have time to sketch the initial idea, I did it directly in the watercolor paper with a pink watercolor pencil and moved immediately to painting it. The whole process took me 3 hours, that was my most productive drawing sesion but I don’t recomend doing this because that was super stressful, hehehe.

    La realizacion de esta contratapa fue caotica. Cuando ya habia terminado de pintar todas las paginas del comic y la portada decidi empezar a hacer la edicion digital del comic para agregarle los textos en español e ingles. Recien en ese momento me di cuenta que no habia hecho la contratapa, y que hasta ese momento no habia ni siquiera bocetado una idea.

    Como ya faltaban pocos dias para que termine la jam en la cual queria presentar el comic decidi hacer de fondo un bosque, tomando de referencia la pagina 7 y usar la idea del frisbee que no incorpore en la portada pero sumandole la idea de que se pareciera al ciclo lunar.

    Desde la idea hasta la version final lo hice directamente sobre la hoja de acuarela con un lapiz rosa acuarelable, y en todo el proceso tarde 3 horas. Esta fue la hoja mas productiva en cuestion de versiones y resultados, pero el estress de tener que hacerlo rapido para poder llegar con el deadline no lo recomiendo jajaja.

    Today I finished the traditional part of the first chapter of “See you under the full moon” comic. I finished the pages 5 to 12 offline. A few days ago I showed the first 4 pages and after that I did the final touches to the others, and scanned to start the digital edition.

    For the digital part I am going to use ClipStudio Paint, because when I researched about the comic making process lots of people recomended this program. I don’t know how to use this program yet so it’s going to be a real challenge. Wish me luck!

    Hoy termine la parte tradicional de todo el comic. Las paginas 5 a 12 las habia terminado por fuera de las transmisiones de twitch. El otro dia ya habia mostrado como quedaron las primeras 4 paginas y luego de darle los ultimos detalles ya puedo pasar a escanearlas y editarlas digitalmente.

    Para la parte digital voy a usar Clip Studio Paint, ya que escuche muy buenas recomendaciones de personas que lo usan para hacer comic. Todavia no se como usar el programa por lo que la parte digital va a ser un verdadero desafio. Deseenme suerte!
